“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” - Mahatma Gandhi

We, at Rosebay Agro Farms follow these golden words of the father of the nation. We are committed to provide quality animal wealth to the country. Routine check-up of milking animals is another area we have already taken-up. We strictly do not look at our animals as just money making machines, we believe in nurturing them like a family member. We have named each of our animal & they are taken utmost care of. Medical check-ups are regular feature for all animals. Any kind of diseases or deficiency is treated using the Homeo or Ayurveda medicines.

Necessary Steps to Ensure Quality & Care

In-house breeding either through natural process or through artificial insemination would be maintain by proven pedigree and using semen of the best quality and highest order, conforming to the breed of the conceiving cow. Maximum endeavor would be for the reproduction through artificial insemination to minimize the chance of venereal diseases occurring among animals. To feed the animals Grass & dry fodder, grains or cattle feed shall all be grown / manufactured out of organic inputs / ingredients.

  • Regular health surveillance & genetic as well as health history of each animal is computerized.
  • Well Equipped laboratory & dispensary should be established at the site, which shall be upgraded with technological advancements periodically.
  • We have dedicated Veterinary Doctor and nursing staff to take of our cattle which would be strengthened commensurate to the growth of dairy in size and population of animals. Milk from the healthy cows will be only allowed for supply.
  • Human contact with milk right from the stage of squeezing out of udder to final process shall be strictly prevented through complete atomization.
  • Based on parameters of age, weight and milk yield, each milking cow shall be given the meal, as prescribed and duly computerized.
  • Adequate open land for daily walk way track of animals and grazing of standing grass is available.
  • Necessary precautionary measures would be strictly followed to prevent cohabitation of one breed of bull with other breed of cow during daily routine travel and grazing.
  • Potable and periodically tested water, cold or hot as medically needed, shall be madeavailable to the animals.
  • Milking machines, pipelines and processing plant shall all be washed and maintained clean after every milking schedule.
  • Periodically tests would be carried out for detection of bacterial growth, if any, in whole of the establishment, maintaining bacteria free environment shall be in our uppermost priority.
  • At every stage of milk processing, pipeline, plant and machinery will have in- built temperature control apparatus.
  • Each activity of the plant as well as animals would be continuously recorded systematically / methodically with aid of most ideal and periodically upgraded software of electronic data processing system.

Reproductive Measures in Calves & Heifers with Proven Pedigree

Increase in number of animals through in house production would be raised for gainful returns in the prescribed manner. Some of the calves shall be raised to Bulls for serving the cows to conceive and thus maintain the pedigree breed of the highest order. Some others would be raised as bullocks for various labour applications, the most important of which, would be to operate the circular rotational device to produce electricity. Heifers would be raised with great veterinary care, richly fed and kept under hygienic environment in well ventilated sheds so that they achieve the mulching / lactation age sooner than later and the yield of milk gets increased and enriched.

The Need: These guidelines are incorporated to make the consumer aware that how many of them are really getting practiced by of the unorganized milk providers. Despite this, 85% of the milk is produced and sold in unorganized sector is unhealthy and unhygienic in terms of condition of herd, housing, milking, storage, and handling and distribution method. In our country more than 85% of dairy business is with the unorganized segment making it even a tougher job for the authorities to take some action over the same. Also, Lack of awareness in the consumer makes these regulations, as good for nothing. The other main reason behind the same is that due to the extreme commercialization of the dairy industry, the producers are busy making more n more money, where as the irregularities & negligence has stepped up giving rise to the adulteration and/or contamination cases in dairy products.
